Linc to close from May 24 to May 27 for maintenance work, city says

The Lincoln M. Alexander Parkway will be closed this upcoming weekend for maintenance work, according to the city.

The Linc’s eastbound lanes will be closed from Friday, May 24 at 8 a.m., to Monday, May 27 at 4 a.m., between Golf Links Road and the Upper Red Hill Valley Parkway off-ramp.

Westbound lanes will be closed from Friday, May 24 at 10 a.m., to Monday, May 27  at 4 a.m., between Red Hill and Mohawk Road.

In a media release, the city said detour routes will be via Mohawk Road and Stone Church Road.

The city said maintenance work will include:

  • Spot resurfacing and asphalt repairs.
  • Sections of mill and pave.
  • Graffiti removal.
  • Bridge and signage repairs.
  • Pavement markings.
  • Ditching.
  • Catch basin cleaning.
  • Vegetation maintenance.

“Traffic is expected to increase during this maintenance weekend, and motorists should allow extra time and follow detour signs,” reads the media release.

Weather could impact the length of the temporary closure.

As of Monday morning, Environment Canada’s forecast Saturday night and Sunday show a 60 per cent chance of rain.

Partial closures on 2 downtown streets this week

The city also says two streets in the middle of downtown Hamilton will be partially closed starting Tuesday.

King William Street will be closed between James Street and John Street.

The city says work to restore the road is the reason behind the closure.

The southbound lane of John Street will also be closed, between King Street and King William Street.

The city says the reason for that closure is alley way construction.

Both closures begin Tuesday, May 21 and end Friday, May 24.

You can find other upcoming road closures on the city’s website.
