Authorities seek witnesses after suspicious fire destroys tattoo parlour in St. Catharines

An early morning fire in downtown St. Catharines has raised suspicion among authorities.

The Downtown Saint, a local tattoo shop, went up in flames just before 5 a.m. on Thursday.

Authorities say they were first called to the scene near Queenston Street and Riordon Street around 4:50 a.m.

No one was hurt, but the business sustained extensive damage.

Following the fire, the business took to social media to share the news.

“We woke up to terrifying and devastating news of our tattoo shop and the home of our close friend and colleague being the target of an arsonist,” it said.

At this time, authorities have deemed the fire to be suspicious and are seeking witnesses.

Niagara Police say that the Ontario Fire Marshall has been called in to investigate.

Anyone with information is urged to contact police by phone at 905-688-4111, option 3, extension 1009628.
