Hamilton police arrest psychiatric patient who was ‘unlawfully at large’

Hamilton police have arrested a psychiatric patient who was “unlawfully at large” Tuesday.

Authorities were told around 10:20 p.m. Monday that 43-year-old Ray Newell didn’t return to St. Joseph’s Hospital after he was granted a day pass.

Officers had said that “without medication, Newell may pose a threat to the community” and added there was a concern for his well-being.

After informing the public about Newell, Hamilton police received a tip from a resident that led to his arrest.
